The concept of spiritually cleansing items, including jewellery, is often a practice rooted in spiritual, cultural or metaphysical beliefs.
 
It has long been believed that objects, especially second-hand, vintage or estate jewellery can carry negative energy from their previous owners or from the places they have been.
 
Spiritual cleansing is done to reset the energy of the item to a more neutral or positive state and to ensure it has positive and harmonious vibes and restore its’s energetic purity.
 
Whether you believe in the metaphysical aspects of spiritual cleansing or not, the act of cleansing jewellery can be a meaningful and symbolic way to make the item your own, especially when it has a history or has been passed down from someone else. This can have a positive psychological effect by making you feel more connected to the item and allow you to set your own intentions for wearing it.
 
Personal belief plays a significant role in this process and rituals for spiritual or physical cleansing can vary depending on individual beliefs and practices.
 
The key is to approach the process of spiritual cleansing with a clear and positive intention and to choose a method that resonates with your beliefs and makes you feel comfortable and spiritually aligned.
 
Some common methods for spiritual cleansing are Smudging/Smoke Cleansing, Moonlight Cleansing, Crystal Cleansing, Earth Cleansing, Water Cleansing to name just a few.
 
At Scoute Fine Jewellery my preference for spiritual cleansing (after physical cleansing) is Full Moon Cleansing incorporating Crystals, Smudging/Smoke, Sunlight, Visualisation and Intention Setting.
 
If you're not spiritually inclined, you may choose to simply clean the jewellery physically to make it feel fresh and new.
 
Note: Remember to handle vintage estate jewellery with care, as some pieces may be delicate or fragile. Not all cleaning methods are suitable for all types of jewellery and gems. Consult a trusted authorised Jeweller for advice before carrying out any physical or spiritual cleansing method.
